The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Joseph Cutajar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Herbert Cornelisse, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 16th minute Louis Alessandro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eugenio Cardona saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Herbert Cornelisse succeeded in the game's 18th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-0. Sportaholic Bugibba's Joseph Cutajar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Herbert Cornelisse in the 24th minute of play. After 26 minutes, Herbert Cornelisse made it 2-0 with a short kick to the right side. Sportaholic Bugibba's Joseph Cutajar tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Neil Spina received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Joseph Cutajar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 35thth minute of the game Herbert Cornelisse who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sportaholic Bugibba's Joseph Cutajar was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

In the 57th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sportaholic Bugibba's goalkeeper Joseph Cutajar, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Neil Spina recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, San Ġiljan's Edward Gabriele got a free kick in the 64th minute. Jurgen Quintano missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 66 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Eugenio Cardona right hand side. After a rather tough play, San Ġiljan's Edward Ghigo got a free kick in the 67th minute. Neil Spina fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joseph Cutajar having to interfere. After some careless play in the Sportaholic Bugibba defense, Herbert Cornelisse kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Joseph Cutajar. The Sportaholic Bugibba fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Joseph Cutajar should have stopped the shot. Louis Alessandro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Joseph Cutajar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Herbert Cornelisse, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. If Louis Alessandro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. For all the effort they put into the match, the Sportaholic Bugibba players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for San Ġiljan.
