The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Pembroke's Tarcisio Barbaro suffered a concussion after 5 minutes and had to leave the field. Albert Scicluna charged in rather forcefully in the 5th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Albert Scicluna the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 6 played minutes Sportaholic Bugibba got a freekick which was hit by Albert Scicluna. In the 7thth minute of the game Julian Degabriele who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sportaholic Bugibba's Joseph Cutajar was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Joseph Cutajar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Degabriele in the 8th minute of the match. In the 9th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sportaholic Bugibba's goalkeeper Joseph Cutajar, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 11 played minutes Sportaholic Bugibba got a freekick which was hit by Edward Francalanza. After 11 played minutes, Pembroke's Francis Micallef shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Joseph Cutajar came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Pembroke reached it. In the 24th minute, Paul Navarro reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Marco Valenzia. The goal made the score 2-0. Paul Navarro charged in rather forcefully in the 27th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Paul Navarro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 27th minute, Paul Navarro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Julian Degabriele sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Julian Degabriele had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 41st minute Vittorio Bianco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joseph Cutajar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

The wind increased when Julian Degabriele made the kick off in the second half. Kevin Deguara hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. After 55 played minutes Pembroke got a freekick which was hit by Reuben Ambrogio. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Louis Alessandro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sportaholic Bugibba's supporters rose to their feet, but Louis Alessandro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marco Valenzia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Pembroke's Julian Degabriele got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 62nd minute, Etienne Calì managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pembroke's supporters rose to their feet, but Etienne Calì was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joseph Cutajar breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The nice shot from Julian Degabriele in the 64thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Joseph Cutajar had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. Louis Alessandro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Reuben Ambrogio came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Pembroke fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Reuben Ambrogio couldn't finish the play. Pembroke's Kevin Deguara shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 76th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Joseph Cutajar but with some difficulty. Julian Degabriele sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marco Valenzia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paul Navarro in the 82nd minute of the match. Julian Degabriele received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Joseph Cutajar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Paul Navarro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Louis Alessandro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marco Valenzia having to interfere. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Sportaholic Bugibba fans cheered their team off the field, for while Pembroke had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
