In the 3rd match minute, Portuguesa Maltesa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jake Drago to maneuver through the defense. In the 4th minute, Adrian Cioffi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Steve Grech Cumbo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Philip Cassar Naudi in the 7th minute of the match. Portuguesa Maltesa's Steve Grech Cumbo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Philip Cassar Naudi in the 11th minute of play. 15 minutes into the match, Luqa's goalkeeper Steve Stilon had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ryan Laus. In the 16th match minute, Luqa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dylan Fiteni to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Luqa's Steve Stilon got control of the ball when Ryan Laus tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jake Drago's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Steve Stilon firmly grabbed it by the left post. Portuguesa Maltesa's Steve Grech Cumbo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Massimo Sultana in the 27th minute of play. Philip Cassar Naudi blasted a shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Steve Grech Cumbo having to make a save. Carlo Esposito received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Steve Stilon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Luqa getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Dylan Fiteni hit a great ball. 48 minutes into the game, Luqa's Philip Cassar Naudi nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Steve Grech Cumbo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ryan Laus made a kick off. In the 57th minute, Ryan Laus ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Steve Stilon was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. In the 61st minute, Gary Mifsud got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Massimo Sultana sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 66 minutes into the match, Luqa's goal looked a bit too open when Ryan Laus came free, but Steve Stilon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Massimo Sultana scored 2-2 in the 73rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Steve Grech Cumbo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After a defensive mix-up in Portuguesa Maltesa's zone, Philip Cassar Naudi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Steve Grech Cumbo came out of the goal and Philip Cassar Naudi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Philip Cassar Naudi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Portuguesa Maltesa's Steve Grech Cumbo got control of the ball when Massimo Sultana tried to sneak it across the goal line. Portuguesa Maltesa's defense didn't have a chance, in the 81st minute, when Massimo Sultana scored to the left of an out of position Steve Grech Cumbo, making the score, 2-3. Steve Stilon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joshua Preca in the 89th minute of play. Luqa were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Portuguesa Maltesa's much stronger midfield.
