An unexpectedly hard shot by Philip Cassar Naudi in the 3rd minute of play forced Red Redemption's goalkeeper Owen Bruno to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Owen Bruno made a fantastic save in the 8th minute, when Massimo Sultana sent off a good shot on target. Philip Cassar Naudi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Owen Bruno tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Matthew Zahra hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Steve Stilon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ben Griffin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Red Redemption booed when Luqa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wayne Incorvaia didn't get a good kick on the ball. Philip Cassar Naudi struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Owen Bruno didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Luqa. Owen Bruno made a fantastic save in the 31st minute, when Massimo Sultana sent off a good shot on target. After 31 played minutes Red Redemption got a freekick which was hit by Matthew Zahra. After a defensive mix-up in Red Redemption's zone, Massimo Sultana stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Owen Bruno came out of the goal and Massimo Sultana tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Red Redemption's Owen Bruno played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Philip Cassar Naudi in the 34th minute of play. The supporters of Luqa booed when Red Redemption was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Matthew Zahra didn't get a good kick on the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Philip Cassar Naudi made a kick off. In the 52ndth minute of the game Philip Cassar Naudi who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Red Redemption's Owen Bruno was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Steve Stilon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jacob Degiorgio in the 58th minute of play. Massimo Sultana sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the Red Redemption defense, Philip Cassar Naudi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Owen Bruno. The Red Redemption fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Owen Bruno should have stopped the shot. In the 72nd minute, Red Redemption's Jacob Degiorgio dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-1. After 77 played minutes Red Redemption got a freekick which was hit by Joseph Bigeni. If Massimo Sultana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Jacob Degiorgio came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Red Redemption fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jacob Degiorgio couldn't finish the play. Philip Cassar Naudi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Owen Bruno tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 93rd minute, Matthew Zahra hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luqa's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
