Jordan Zampa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thomas Mercieca having to interfere. In the 12th minute of the match, Harry Galdes got a very nice opportunity to score, but John Cassar was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Harry Galdes got free with John Cassar in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. John Cassar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amadeo Farrugia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Harry Galdes who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 19thth minute tested the skills of John Cassar when he managed to save the team from getting behind. With an all-out effort, Nigret's John Cassar threw himself towards the right post 20 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Amadeo Farrugia, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Jurgen Cassar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thomas Mercieca took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jurgen Cassar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Amadeo Farrugia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jurgen Cassar made a kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sean Casa during the 52nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 53rd minute of the game, MEPA FC got a penalty. The shot went straight in by the left post. John Cassar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amadeo Farrugia, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Jurgen Cassar kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Thomas Mercieca. That made the score 1-2 in the 65 minute of play. John Cassar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amadeo Farrugia in the 76th minute of the match. Jurgen Cassar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thomas Mercieca having to interfere. Thomas Mercieca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jurgen Cassar in the 83rd minute of play. In the 88th minute the ball was on its way in behind MEPA FC's goalkeeper John Cassar, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Jurgen Cassar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 98 minutes into the match, Nigret's goal looked a bit too open when Jurgen Cassar came free, but Thomas Mercieca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The MEPA FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing MEPA FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
