Ivan Polidano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With his leg Steve Scerri managed to avoid a goal in the 14thth minute, when Gunners's Carl Coppini fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 16th minute, Ivan Polidano fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Steve Scerri, passed just outside the right post. 17 minutes into the game, Carl Coppini lined in a short shot 1-0 behind a frustrated Steve Scerri. Carl Coppini might have been able to make a better finish in the 21st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Steve Scerri. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Carl Coppini ran back to his position shaking his head. Adriano Formosa charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Adriano Formosa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a defensive mix-up in Gunners's zone, Cedric Fenech stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Philip Bezzina came out of the goal and Cedric Fenech tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carl Coppini got free with Steve Scerri in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ivan Polidano in the 29th minute of play forced Mewchamp united's goalkeeper Steve Scerri to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 32 minutes into the game, Martin Trigona was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mewchamp united's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gunners the free kick. In the 34th minute, Gunners's James Bezzina dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. Carl Coppini could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Steve Scerri made a huge save. In the 40th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mewchamp united's goalkeeper Steve Scerri, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Carl Coppini had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ivan Polidano stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Steve Scerri made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ivan Polidano in the 57th minute of play. 59 minutes into the match, Mewchamp united's goal looked a bit too open when Carl Coppini came free, but Steve Scerri reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ivan Polidano in the 60th minute of play forced Mewchamp united's goalkeeper Steve Scerri to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mewchamp united's Steve Scerri played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carl Coppini in the 62nd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Gianluca Troisi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mewchamp united's supporters rose to their feet, but Gianluca Troisi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Philip Bezzina breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Steve Scerri stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ivan Polidano's shot from short distance in the 68th minute. Zach Debono hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alessio Cremona during the 71st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 71 played minutes Mewchamp united got a freekick which was hit by Alessio Cremona. Carl Coppini's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Steve Scerri read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 75th minute of play. Steve Scerri made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carl Coppini in the 79th minute of play. 82 minutes into the match, Mewchamp united's goal looked a bit too open when Thomas Drago came free, but Steve Scerri reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Steve Scerri took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carl Coppini, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thomas Drago hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. 91 minutes into the match, Ivan Polidano notched a goal, 5-0, to the right of Mewchamp united's Steve Scerri. Steve Scerri was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Gunners's Carl Coppini got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the referee ended the match the Gunners players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
