Gzira United's Tony Dougall played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jordan Zampa in the 5th minute of play. Jurgen Cassar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tony Dougall having to interfere. Giovanni Cini charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Giovanni Cini the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, MEPA FC's Giovanni Cini got a free kick in the 14th minute. In the 18th minute Jurgen Cassar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tony Dougall saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Marco Van Huytvenne in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg John Cassar saved MEPA FC from getting behind. If Jordan Zampa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jurgen Cassar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. George Magro's late challenge caught a MEPA FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. George Magro helped the player get up and apologised. George Magro kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. In the 43rd minute, Marco Van Huytvenne got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

In the 50th match minute, Gzira United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marco Van Huytvenne to maneuver through the defense. If Jordan Zampa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to MEPA FC getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Jordan Zampa hit a great ball. In the 59th minute, Marco Van Huytvenne made a precise shot to the right of John Cassar. MEPA FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. 63 minutes into the match, Gzira United's goalkeeper Tony Dougall had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jordan Zampa. Tony Dougall made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jurgen Cassar in the 64th minute of play. 64 minutes into the game, MEPA FC's Jurgen Cassar nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tony Dougall made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. 70 minutes into the match, MEPA FC's goal looked a bit too open when Marco Van Huytvenne came free, but John Cassar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 71 played minutes MEPA FC got a freekick which was hit by Neville Fabri. Marco Van Huytvenne fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John Cassar having to interfere. When Jeremy Vancell fell near the penalty area in the 82nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored MEPA FC's protests and gave Jeremy Vancell a yellow card for diving instead. Jeremy Vancell hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. When Claudio Miggiani came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Gzira United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Claudio Miggiani couldn't finish the play. MEPA FC succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Gzira United had controlled the match.
