The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience was convinced that Shawn Seracino Inglott's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julian Ciappara was relentless in the 2nd minute of the game. Mike Rogerson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 4th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Julian Sultanas short, quick shot in the 6thth minute got Julian Ciappara to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. With his leg Julian Ciappara managed to avoid a goal in the 9thth minute, when Valetta Pirates FC's Julian Sultana fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 11thth minute of the game Shawn Seracino Inglott who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mtarfa's Julian Ciappara was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When the match had gone on for 13 minutes, Shawn Seracino Inglott took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Julian Ciappara to make any attempt to save it. With his leg Julian Ciappara managed to avoid a goal in the 21stth minute, when Valetta Pirates FC's Shawn Seracino Inglott fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Reuben Navarro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christian Pace Bonello, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-0 at half-time.

Julian Ciappara took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emanuel Fiteni, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Julian Ciappara showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Shawn Seracino Inglott, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Shawn Seracino Inglott in the 55th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julian Ciappara saved Mtarfa from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Mtarfa's Charles Pace got a free kick in the 58th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Emanuel Fiteni in the 61st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julian Ciappara prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Clinton Salomone's late challenge caught a Valetta Pirates FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Clinton Salomone helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Valetta Pirates FC booed when Mtarfa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Clinton Salomone didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 65th minute, Shawn Seracino Inglott managed to get in a good position for a shot. Valetta Pirates FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Shawn Seracino Inglott was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julian Ciappara breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Julian Ciappara showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Sultana in the 68th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Shawn Seracino Inglott in the 70th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julian Ciappara saved Mtarfa from getting behind. After some careless play in the Mtarfa defense, Julian Sultana kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julian Ciappara. The Mtarfa fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julian Ciappara should have stopped the shot. In the 77thth minute of the game Emanuel Fiteni who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mtarfa's Julian Ciappara was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Julian Sultana fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julian Ciappara having to interfere. After 83 minutes, Shawn Seracino Inglott made it 6-0 with a short kick to the right side. Mtarfa's Julian Ciappara tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 89th minute, Emanuel Fiteni ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julian Ciappara was frozen by the shot and now it was 7-0. In the 93rd minute Shawn Seracino Inglott shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julian Ciappara saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. There was no doubt that Valetta Pirates FC were the better team. Valetta Pirates FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
