Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Yolo AFC's Peter Paul Busuttil in the 29th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Matthew Sinerco was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Mqabba through an amazing save. Godwin Mumford showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Franco Gaffiero, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Ivan Sant Manduca hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Alex Vella charged in rather forcefully in the 39th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Franco Gaffiero made a kick off. In the 52nd minute Peter Paul Busuttil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Matthew Sinerco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Frederick Cini received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Matthew Sinerco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mqabba's Matthew Sinerco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frederick Cini in the 64th minute of play. Matthew Sinerco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Frederick Cini, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 68th match minute, Mqabba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daniel Messina to maneuver through the defense. After 86 minutes, Bjorn Demicoli mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Yolo AFC and the Mqabba players grew even worse after the yellow card.
