If Frederick Cini had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edmond Bonniċi hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. After having played for 10 minutes, Alex Vella managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Yolo AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alex Vella was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jean Paul Camoin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Peter Paul Busuttil in the 12th minute of the match. In the 13th minute, Frederick Cini left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Yolo AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. If Edmond Bonniċi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 22 minutes into the game, Edmond Bonniċi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Msida's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Yolo AFC the free kick. Peter Paul Busuttil struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Jean Paul Camoin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Yolo AFC. In the 24th minute the ball was on its way in behind Msida's goalkeeper Jean Paul Camoin, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 26th minute, Edmond Bonniċi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Peter Paul Busuttil came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Yolo AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Peter Paul Busuttil couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Frederick Cini's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jean Paul Camoin was relentless in the 31st minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Carl Soler managed to get in a good position for a shot. Msida's supporters rose to their feet, but Carl Soler was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Godwin Mumford breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Peter Paul Busuttil fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jean Paul Camoin having to interfere. If Peter Paul Busuttil had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Msida's zone, Peter Paul Busuttil stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jean Paul Camoin came out of the goal and Peter Paul Busuttil tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Edmond Bonniċi hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. After taking down the ball on Yolo AFC's corner Ismael Rizzo fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Jean Paul Camoin quite easily take care of the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Carl Soler stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Salvatore Xiberras in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Godwin Mumford saved Yolo AFC from getting behind. Edmond Bonniċi got his second yellow card in the match during the 54th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After 55 played minutes Msida got a freekick which was hit by Edmond Bonniċi. Peter Paul Busuttil fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jean Paul Camoin having to interfere. After 57 played minutes Msida got a freekick which was hit by Robert Schranz. Frederick Cinis short, quick shot in the 60thth minute got Jean Paul Camoin to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Jean Paul Camoin made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Frederick Cini sent off a good shot on target. When Frederick Cini came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Yolo AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Frederick Cini couldn't finish the play. Francis Abela's late challenge caught a Yolo AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Francis Abela helped the player get up and apologised. In the 68th minute, one of Msida:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Msida. Jean Paul Camoin had in the 69thth minute some difficulties stopping Ismael Rizzo's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. If Peter Paul Busuttil had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Peter Paul Busuttil managed to get in a good position for a shot. In the 90th match minute, Yolo AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ismael Rizzo to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Yolo AFC's zone, Bjorn Minuti stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Godwin Mumford came out of the goal and Bjorn Minuti tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Peter Paul Busuttil received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Jean Paul Camoin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Msida's Jean Paul Camoin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Peter Paul Busuttil in the 98th minute of play. When the match was over Yolo AFC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Msida throughout the match.
