Luigi Valletta made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Tommy Salerno could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 7th minute of the match, but Luigi Valletta made a huge save. Tommy Cassar was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 12 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 11th minute of the game. One of San Ġwann Athletic:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Calderon Stars:s goal. Kenneth Mugliett scored 3-0 in the 17th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Luigi Valletta, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When the match had gone on for 23 minutes, Kenneth Mugliett put it in 5-0 from a short distance just to the right of Luigi Valletta. Kenneth Mugliett's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 30thth minute, Luigi Valletta skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 31st minute, Kenneth Mugliett fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Luigi Valletta, passed just outside the right post. Neville Bajada took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bastjan Portelli, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Luigi Valletta was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Bernard Vella struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Luigi Valletta didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Calderon Stars. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kenneth Mugliett in the 45th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luigi Valletta saved San Ġwann Athletic from getting behind. After 48 minutes of play, Calderon Stars's Kenneth Mugliett made it 8-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Luigi Valletta was left in no man's land by his defense there! The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 8-0.

The wind increased when Bastjan Portelli made the kick off in the second half. In the 54thth minute of the game Kenneth Mugliett who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but San Ġwann Athletic's Luigi Valletta was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Richard Cesareo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 60 minutes, Kenneth Mugliett made it 9-0 with a short kick to the right side. San Ġwann Athletic's Luigi Valletta tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The Calderon Stars fans' excitement grew in the 63rd match minute when Calderon Stars's Kenneth Mugliett looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kenneth Mugliett in the 73rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luigi Valletta prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bernard Vella in the 74th minute of play forced San Ġwann Athletic's goalkeeper Luigi Valletta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match clock showed 76 minutes, the score became 13-0 when Kenneth Mugliett sped through San Ġwann Athletic's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Luigi Valletta. After 82 minutes, Kenneth Mugliett made it 14-0 with a short kick to the right side. San Ġwann Athletic's Luigi Valletta tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 88th minute Carl Ellul Bonici shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luigi Valletta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the referee ended the match the Calderon Stars players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
