In the 18th match minute, San Ġwann Athletic was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bastjan Portelli to maneuver through the defense. In the 19th minute, Sean Haber got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ryan Xiberras took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bastjan Portelli, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, San Ġwann Athletic's Ramon Caruana Curran got a free kick in the 22nd minute. When Sean Haber came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Ad Astra fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sean Haber couldn't finish the play. 33 minutes into the match, Ad Astra's goal looked a bit too open when Bastjan Portelli came free, but Ryan Xiberras reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Sean Haber had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luke Attard fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luigi Valletta having to interfere. Bastjan Portelli sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luigi Valletta made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Sean Haber sent off a good shot on target. After the first half San Ġwann Athletic were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Sean Haber struck a weak shot in the 54th minute. Luigi Valletta didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ad Astra. In the 57th minute, Ryan They hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sean Haber received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Luigi Valletta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in San Ġwann Athletic's zone, Sean Haber stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luigi Valletta came out of the goal and Sean Haber tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Sean Haber had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 65 minutes into the match, Ad Astra's Nicholas Tanti sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luigi Valletta narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ad Astra's Sean Haber got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In a very dangerous position, a player in Ad Astra fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 71st minute. Penalty! Luke Attard fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luigi Valletta having to interfere. In the 82nd minute Luke Attard shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luigi Valletta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luke Attard didn't quite understand what happened when in the 84 minute of the game managed to get a great opportunity for a goal and then missed the goal by a feet. Ryan Xiberras showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leonard Giorgio, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Ryan Xiberras was a little too slow when Leonard Giorgio got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 91st minute. The score was now 0-3. The supporters of San Ġwann Athletic booed when Ad Astra was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nicholas Tanti didn't get a good kick on the ball. Although Ad Astra had been in control for most of the match, San Ġwann Athletic still came away with the win.
