After a rather tough play, Diamond Eyes's Miguel Mugliett got a free kick in the 16th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Kurt Vella managed to get in a good position for a shot. Balzan's supporters rose to their feet, but Kurt Vella was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. After some careless play in the Diamond Eyes defense, Lawrence Failla kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sebastian Demicoli. The Diamond Eyes fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sebastian Demicoli should have stopped the shot. After having played for 93 minutes, Chris Borg Xuereb managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Diamond Eyes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Chris Borg Xuereb was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 96th minute Lawrence Failla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sebastian Demicoli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
