Edward Vella hit a great ball. Evan Gafà blasted a shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jason Cachia having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Evan Gafà in the 17th minute of play forced Ħamrun's goalkeeper Jason Cachia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jason Cachia stood somewhat misplaced when Evan Gafà came free in front of goal and shot 2-0 to the left of him in the 20 minute. Tommy Griffin charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tommy Griffin the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 23rd minute, Tommy Griffin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Evan Gafà came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Qala St. Joseph fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Evan Gafà couldn't finish the play. Edward Vella fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jason Cachia having to interfere. Alex Ghigo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jason Cachia having to make a save. Evan Gafà fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jason Cachia having to interfere. Despite this Jason Cachia quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. When Evan Gafà came up free with the goalie in the 49th minute, the Qala St. Joseph fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Evan Gafà couldn't finish the play.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Evan Gafà made a kick off. If Evan Gafà had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 60th minute of the match Godwin Axisa sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jason Cachia skillfully saved the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Evan Gafà managed to get in a good position for a shot. Qala St. Joseph's supporters rose to their feet, but Evan Gafà was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jason Cachia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ħamrun's Jason Cachia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Charlo Depasquale in the 70th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 71 minutes, Evan Gafà put it in 5-0 from a short distance just to the right of Jason Cachia. Qala St. Joseph's Francesco Bailey was substituted for Etienne Ghio. The Qala St. Joseph fans' excitement grew in the 79th match minute when Qala St. Joseph's Mario Borg Xuereb looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 6-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 82 played minutes, Qala St. Joseph's Peter Paul Laus shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jason Cachia came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Qala St. Joseph reached it. The Qala St. Joseph fans' excitement grew in the 83rd match minute when Qala St. Joseph's Mario Borg Xuereb looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 7-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 88 minutes, Mario Borg Xuereb made it 8-0 with a short kick to the right side. Ħamrun's Jason Cachia tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Qala St. Joseph's Mario Borg Xuereb got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 96 minutes into the match, Alex Ghigo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jason Cachia. Ħamrun's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alex Ghigo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 10-0.
