Keith Xuereb in the 7thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Jason Cachia, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 11th minute, Ben Lia made a precise shot to the right of Jason Cachia. Ħamrun's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. With a little luck, Ħamrun's Jason Cachia got control of the ball when Ben Lia tried to sneak it across the goal line. Francis Fsadni 's late challenge caught a Marsa FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Francis Fsadni helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Marsa FC booed when Ħamrun was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Francis Fsadni didn't get a good kick on the ball. Keith Xuereb's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jason Cachia read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. After having played for 18 minutes, Pierre Nappa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Marsa FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pierre Nappa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jason Cachia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Keith Xuereb, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jason Cachia made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ben Lia in the 22nd minute. After 31 minutes of play, Marsa FC's Keith Xuereb made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jason Cachia was left in no man's land by his defense there! Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Keith Xuereb in the 35th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jason Cachia prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Pierre Nappa came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Marsa FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pierre Nappa couldn't finish the play. In the 38th minute Keith Xuereb shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jason Cachia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Keith Xuereb blasted a shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jason Cachia having to make a save. Keith Xuereb received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Jason Cachia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Keith Xuereb had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

Jason Cachia stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Keith Xuereb's shot from short distance in the 52nd minute. Keith Xuereb sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Keith Xuereb fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jason Cachia having to interfere. Jason Cachia stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Keith Xuereb's shot from short distance in the 58th minute. After 61 minutes of play, Marsa FC's Keith Xuereb made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jason Cachia was left in no man's land by his defense there! Jason Cachia came out of the goal in the 71st minute to try and stop a shot by Marsa FC's Keith Xuereb. But to his dismay, Keith Xuereb quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0. Keith Xuereb received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Jason Cachia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Ashley Ghigo fell near the penalty area in the 77th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ħamrun's protests and gave Ashley Ghigo a yellow card for diving instead. After 83 played minutes Ħamrun got a freekick which was hit by David Sciortino. In the 84thth minute of the game Keith Xuereb who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ħamrun's Jason Cachia was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Jason Cachia didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bjorn Pace Bonello went, in the 88th minute, to the upper right corner, 7-0 was the resulting score. After a rather tough play, Ħamrun's Jonathan Robinson got a free kick in the 91st minute. The audience was convinced that Keith Xuereb's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jason Cachia was relentless in the 92nd minute of the game. In the 94th minute, Keith Xuereb made a precise shot to the right of Jason Cachia. Ħamrun's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 8-0. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Marsa FC had played much better football throughout.
