After having played for 18 minutes, Pierre Nappa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Marsa FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pierre Nappa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Keith Xuereb in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gianluca Stellini saved Siggiewi FC from getting behind. The audience was convinced that Keith Xuereb's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gianluca Stellini was relentless in the 21st minute of the game. Claudio Salerno's late challenge caught a Marsa FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Claudio Salerno helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Marsa FC booed when Siggiewi FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Claudio Salerno didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 23 played minutes Siggiewi FC got a freekick which was hit by Claudio Salerno. Keith Xuereb fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gianluca Stellini having to interfere. Bjorn Pace Bonello scored 1-1 in the 29th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Gianluca Stellini, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 31st match minute, Marsa FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Keith Xuereb to maneuver through the defense. When the match had gone on for 35 minutes, Keith Xuereb put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Gianluca Stellini. Keith Xuereb's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gianluca Stellini read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. Keith Xuereb sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Owen Mifsud kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. Gianluca Stellini showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Keith Xuereb in the 48th minute of the match.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Adam Debono stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Adam Debono had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Marsa FC's Tim Dimech played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edward Bigeni in the 55th minute of play. In the 60th minute, Keith Xuereb made a precise shot to the right of Gianluca Stellini. Siggiewi FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. After 62 played minutes Siggiewi FC got a freekick which was hit by Adam Debono. Claudio Salerno hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. In the 64th match minute, Marsa FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Matthew Carabott to maneuver through the defense. Keith Xuereb received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Gianluca Stellini tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Keith Xuereb had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 77 played minutes Siggiewi FC got a freekick which was hit by Claudio Salerno. Tim Dimech showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edward Bigeni in the 79th minute of the match. In the 80th match minute, Siggiewi FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adam Debono to maneuver through the defense. Keith Xuereb struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Gianluca Stellini didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Marsa FC. When Keith Xuereb came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Marsa FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Keith Xuereb couldn't finish the play. 95 minutes into the match, Siggiewi FC's goalkeeper Gianluca Stellini had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Keith Xuereb.
