Leon Coleiro made an important save on a dangerous shot by David Schiavone in the 13th minute. Daniel Galea's late challenge caught a VALLETTA WHITE STARS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Daniel Galea helped the player get up and apologised. 18 minutes into the match, VALLETTA WHITE STARS's Nicholas Quintano sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Liam Ciscaldi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Liam Ciscaldi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jake Spiteri in the 20th minute of the match. VALLETTA WHITE STARS's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Harry Gambin in the 21st minute. 26 minutes into the match, Dwejra's goal looked a bit too open when Nicholas Quintano came free, but Liam Ciscaldi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by William Gummeson in the 28th minute of play forced Dwejra's goalkeeper Liam Ciscaldi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 31 minutes of play, VALLETTA WHITE STARS's Nicholas Quintano made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. After some careless play in the Dwejra defense, Nicholas Quintano kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Liam Ciscaldi. The Dwejra fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Liam Ciscaldi should have stopped the shot. 41 minutes into the match, Alex Marmara notched a goal, 0-5, to the right of Dwejra's Liam Ciscaldi. Liam Ciscaldi was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. VALLETTA WHITE STARS's Leon Coleiro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 44th minute of the match, managed to save VALLETTA WHITE STARS from getting a goal against them. VALLETTA WHITE STARS were furious when Dante Van Beersel was red carded, 46 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In a very dangerous position, a player in VALLETTA WHITE STARS fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 46th minute. Penalty! VALLETTA WHITE STARS made a substitution. Chris Abdilla replaced Jake Spiteri. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-5 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nicholas Quintano to make the kick off. 58 minutes into the match, VALLETTA WHITE STARS's goal looked a bit too open when David Schiavone came free, but Leon Coleiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nicholas Quintano succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-6 in the 63rd playminute. VALLETTA WHITE STARS's Kenneth Miggiani was substituted for Alex Marmara. Dwejra's Kyle Xiberras was substituted for James Conti. An unexpectedly hard shot by William Gummeson in the 69th minute of play forced Dwejra's goalkeeper Liam Ciscaldi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nicholas Quintano got free with Liam Ciscaldi in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of VALLETTA WHITE STARS booed when Dwejra was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kyle Xiberras didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Nicholas Quintano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jacob Mangion hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Nicholas Quintano managed to get in a good position for a shot. VALLETTA WHITE STARS's supporters rose to their feet, but Nicholas Quintano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Liam Ciscaldi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. William Gummeson hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. A collision led to VALLETTA WHITE STARS getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Nicholas Quintano hit a great ball. Kenneth Miggiani hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. VALLETTA WHITE STARS's Nicholas Quintano was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 94th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nicholas Quintano in the 98th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Liam Ciscaldi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. VALLETTA WHITE STARS's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
