If Clive Ford had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Austen Sawbridge managed to get in a good position for a shot. Luxembourg's supporters rose to their feet, but Austen Sawbridge was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Daniel Carter breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Daniel Carter stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Austen Sawbridge's shot from short distance in the 18th minute. 24 minutes into the match, Luxembourg's goal looked a bit too open when Wesley Delaney came free, but Ivan Halliday reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ivan Bass sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 27th match minute, Luxembourg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Curtis Noble to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ivan Bass in the 27th minute of play forced Luxembourg's goalkeeper Ivan Halliday to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ivan Bass fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ivan Halliday having to interfere. In the 32nd match minute, Luxembourg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jacob Land to maneuver through the defense. 34 minutes into the match, Luxembourg's goal looked a bit too open when Ivan Bass came free, but Ivan Halliday reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luxembourg's defense didn't have a chance, in the 40th minute, when Ivan Bass scored to the left of an out of position Ivan Halliday, making the score, 1-0. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Wesley Delaney during the 42nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 43 played minutes Chelmsford United got a freekick which was hit by Wesley Delaney. In the 44th minute, Austen Sawbridge made a precise shot to the right of Daniel Carter. Chelmsford United's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. 47 minutes into the game, Wesley Delaney cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Ivan Halliday was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The wind increased when Ivan Bass made the kick off in the second half. Luxembourg's Kurt White was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 53rd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. After 60 played minutes Luxembourg got a freekick which was hit by Curtis Noble. Luxembourg made a substitution. Darren Carr replaced Kurt White. Glyn Cookson kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. Freddy Arrowsmith kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. 69 minutes into the match, Chelmsford United's goalkeeper Daniel Carter had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Austen Sawbridge. Daniel Carter took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leo Osmond, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ivan Halliday made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ivan Bass in the 71st minute of play. 75 minutes into the game, Chelmsford United's Wesley Delaney nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ivan Halliday made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-2. When Clive Ford came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Chelmsford United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Clive Ford couldn't finish the play. Ivan Halliday showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ivan Bass in the 79th minute of the match. If Austen Sawbridge had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 83rd minute Darren Carr shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Daniel Carter saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jacob Land kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. 87 minutes into the match, Clive Ford had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ivan Halliday. Luxembourg's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Clive Ford was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-2. After 91 played minutes, Chelmsford United's Tosh Porter shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Ivan Halliday came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Chelmsford United reached it. Glyn Cookson lost his temper 92 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. 92 minutes into the game, one of Luxembourg:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave Chelmsford United a penalty, 94 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Leroy Leighton, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Luxembourg's Ivan Halliday. 5-2. Ivan Halliday stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Clive Ford's shot from short distance in the 97th minute. The supporters of Chelmsford United booed when Luxembourg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 99 match minutes in a wonderful position. Louis Wright didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luxembourg's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
