Edward Klingelmann fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Daniel de la Fontaine having to interfere. In the 8th minute Freddy Reuter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Daniel de la Fontaine saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Linus Kemmer might have been able to make a better finish in the 9th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Daniel de la Fontaine. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Linus Kemmer ran back to his position shaking his head. If Linus Kemmer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Royal Lëtzebuerg's Daniel de la Fontaine played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Freddy Reuter in the 15th minute of play. The supporters of Beşiktaş JK booed when Royal Lëtzebuerg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ruben Otto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Emil Altschuler charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Nicolas Helminger could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 35th minute of the match, but Armin Babineaux made a huge save. After having played for 47 minutes, Linus Kemmer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Beşiktaş JK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Linus Kemmer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Kurt St. Pierre to strike the kick off in the second half. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 55th minute of the game. One of Beşiktaş JK:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Royal Lëtzebuerg:s goal. In the 56th minute there was a penalty for Royal Lëtzebuerg.
