The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Daniel de la Fontaine showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Michael Axmann in the 3rd minute of the match. Robert von Radowitz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Daniel de la Fontaine tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The attack was good, but when Michael Axmann in the 8th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nicolas Helminger in the 10th minute of play forced Stanway FC's goalkeeper Charles Furstenfeld to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Daniel de la Fontaine showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Michael Axmann, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. Robert von Radowitz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Daniel de la Fontaine read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 17th minute of play. Michael Axmann received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Daniel de la Fontaine tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kurt St. Pierre sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 22nd minute, Liam Hahnemann hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Stanway FC's zone, Kurt St. Pierre stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Charles Furstenfeld came out of the goal and Kurt St. Pierre tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Charles Furstenfeld made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicolas Helminger in the 27th minute of play. Michael Axmann fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Daniel de la Fontaine having to interfere. Daniel de la Fontaine didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Robert von Radowitz went, in the 36th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Daniel de la Fontaine didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 41st minute, which inside left pole to 2-0. In the 44th match minute, Stanway FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Michael Axmann to maneuver through the defense. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Michael Axmann made a kick off. In the 64thth minute of the game Michael Axmann who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Royal Lëtzebuerg's Daniel de la Fontaine was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Nicolas Helminger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Royal Lëtzebuerg's Nicolas Helminger got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Max von Radowitz kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. Stanway FC's Michael Axmann got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, Nicolas Helminger managed to get in a good position for a shot. Royal Lëtzebuerg's supporters rose to their feet, but Nicolas Helminger was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Charles Furstenfeld breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 80 minutes into the game, Liam Hahnemann was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Stanway FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Royal Lëtzebuerg the free kick. The supporters of Royal Lëtzebuerg booed when Stanway FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Liam Hahnemann didn't get a good kick on the ball. 84 minutes into the match, Royal Lëtzebuerg's goal looked a bit too open when Michael Axmann came free, but Daniel de la Fontaine reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Michael Axmann fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Daniel de la Fontaine having to interfere. In the 89th minute Michael Axmann shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Daniel de la Fontaine saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Edward Auspitz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Royal Lëtzebuerg's supporters rose to their feet, but Edward Auspitz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Charles Furstenfeld breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. For all the effort they put into the match, the Royal Lëtzebuerg players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Stanway FC.
