With a little luck, Fussballclub Diekirch's Rupert Fürstenberg got control of the ball when Fredrik Walch tried to sneak it across the goal line. Zidanes y Pavones's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fussballclub Diekirch the free kick. Fredrik Walch hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. After 42 minutes, Linus Gernsback mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Zidanes y Pavones and the Fussballclub Diekirch players grew even worse after the yellow card. Fussballclub Diekirch's supporters rose to their feet, but Wilhelm Drachmann was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Michael von Radowitz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After some careless play in the Fussballclub Diekirch defense, Heiko Hilgendorf kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rupert Fürstenberg. The Fussballclub Diekirch fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rupert Fürstenberg should have stopped the shot. Zidanes y Pavones's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
