Rex Mutzel hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. Fred Mayfield received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Leo Schmitz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Leo Schmitz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fred Mayfield in the 13th minute of play. If Fred Mayfield had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 17 minutes into the game, Howden's Jonny Cheswick nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Leo Schmitz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Leo Schmitz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fred Mayfield in the 35th minute of the match. Stefan Schiltz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vic Sewell read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 45th minute of play. After having played for 46 minutes, Andreas Fröhlich managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. C.A. Spora's supporters crossed their fingers, but Andreas Fröhlich was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Howden getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Gordon Holland hit a great ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bernhard Hommel to strike the kick off in the second half. 58 minutes into the match, Bernhard Hommel had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vic Sewell. Howden's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Bernhard Hommel was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. In the 72nd minute, one of Howden:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Howden. The referee gave C.A. Spora a penalty, 73 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Karlheinz Weiss, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Howden's Vic Sewell. 2-2. After a rather tough play, Howden's Gordon Holland got a free kick in the 76th minute. Fred Mayfield fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leo Schmitz having to interfere. In the 84thth minute of the game Bernhard Hommel who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Howden's Vic Sewell was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 87th minute, but Leo Schmitz got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving C.A. Spora hanging dry this time. In the 88th minute, Jonny Cheswick got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 90th minute, Fred Mayfield got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 96 minutes into the game, Elmar Imhoff was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. C.A. Spora's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Howden the free kick. After a rather tough play, C.A. Spora's Elmar Imhoff got a free kick in the 97th minute. Howden's Fred Mayfield got a good chance for a goal in the 99th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
