In a very dangerous position, a player in Lynx FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 3rd minute. Penalty! The referee gave Godmanchester AFC a penalty, 5 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Laurence Leyburn, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Lynx FC's Daniel Kiefer. 0-1. After having played for 12 minutes, Justin Delamore managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Godmanchester AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Justin Delamore was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 15th minute, Lynx FC's Jérôme Kachel seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Jérôme Kachel the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Lynx FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Jérôme Kachel had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. After 14 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Lynx FC! A collision led to Lynx FC getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Bodo Weiss hit a great ball. Jim Hutchins received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Daniel Kiefer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 25 played minutes Lynx FC got a freekick which was hit by Bodo Weiss. After recieving a nice pass, Godmanchester AFC's Laurence Leyburn tried to score from far away in the 32nd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Franck Klepper fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ralph Page having to interfere. Bodo Weiss sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 59 minutes of play, Lynx FC's Franck Klepper made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ralph Page was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 62nd minute, Franck Klepper got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Francesco von Fürstenberg's late challenge caught a Godmanchester AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Francesco von Fürstenberg helped the player get up and apologised. Jim Hutchins struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Daniel Kiefer didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Godmanchester AFC. A hard shot 80 in the game by Jim Hutchins from a close distance when the talented Daniel Kiefer managed to make a qualified save. Lynx FC's players were relieved. With a little luck, Lynx FC's Daniel Kiefer got control of the ball when Jim Hutchins tried to sneak it across the goal line. Franz Baasch charged in rather forcefully in the 91st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. When Lazlo Bodenheimer fell near the penalty area in the 95th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lynx FC's protests and gave Lazlo Bodenheimer a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Godmanchester AFC booed when Lynx FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lazlo Bodenheimer didn't get a good kick on the ball. Franck Klepper blasted a shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ralph Page having to make a save.
