Spectators: 7000 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 2000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Phil Perryman got the match started through his kick off. After 3 played minutes Basingstoke got a freekick which was hit by Felix Blake. Rupert Joy didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jacques Werner went, in the 5th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. In the 7th minute, Batu Cem Yalçın left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Paignton fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. After some careless play in the Paignton defense, Felix Blake kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Napoleon Nakonieczny. The Paignton fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Napoleon Nakonieczny should have stopped the shot. 15 minutes into the match, Bengt-Rune Billock notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of Basingstoke's Rupert Joy. Rupert Joy was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When the match had gone on for 19 minutes, Frank Fabel put it in 1-4 from a short distance just to the right of Rupert Joy. If Felix Blake had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Basingstoke getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Felix Blake hit a great ball. After 27 minutes, Ollie Winterburn mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Basingstoke and the Paignton players grew even worse after the yellow card. Ollie Winterburn hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. 1-5 became the score in the 29th minute when Batu Cem Yalçın elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Batu Cem Yalçın's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rupert Joy was relentless in the 37th minute of the game. After 43 played minutes Basingstoke got a freekick which was hit by Ozzy Cheeseman. When Batu Cem Yalçın came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Paignton fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Batu Cem Yalçın couldn't finish the play.

The wind increased when Batu Cem Yalçın made the kick off in the second half. Jacques Werner received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Rupert Joy came out and tried to block the shot, but Jacques Werner slotted it home off the left post making it 1-6 in the 52nd minute. In the 60th minute of the match, Batu Cem Yalçın got a very nice opportunity to score, but Rupert Joy was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 61st minute the ball was on its way in behind Basingstoke's goalkeeper Rupert Joy, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Felix Blake charged in rather forcefully in the 61st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Felix Blake the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 62 played minutes Basingstoke got a freekick which was hit by Felix Blake. 63 minutes in the game, Batu Cem Yalçın dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Rupert Joy made an important save on a dangerous shot by Batu Cem Yalçın in the 65th minute. Paignton's Frank Fabel got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Basingstoke's Rupert Joy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frank Fabel in the 72nd minute of play. Armando Salvino recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the match had gone on for 77 minutes, Batu Cem Yalçın took a quick shot and it went in 1-7 without a chance for Rupert Joy to make any attempt to save it. Rupert Joy didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 84th minute, which inside left pole to 1-9. Batu Cem Yalçın sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Batu Cem Yalçın could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 98th minute of the match, but Rupert Joy made a huge save. The Basingstoke fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Paignton were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
