Padiham Stadium
Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000,
Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Padiham FC's Leo Brodmann started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Christof Probst recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 3rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Waterlooville's zone, Oscar Dümmler stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Len Nightingale came out of the goal and Oscar Dümmler tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 6 minutes into the match, Waterlooville's goal looked a bit too open when Leo Brodmann came free, but Len Nightingale reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Len Nightingale made an important save on a dangerous shot by Oscar Dümmler in the 8th minute. 9 minutes into the match, Padiham FC's goal looked a bit too open when Simon Branson came free, but Joel Braun reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 11th minute Fred Ahle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Len Nightingale saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Len Nightingale made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eddie Arendt in the 12th minute of play. Fred Ahle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Len Nightingale having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 16 minutes, Leo Brodmann took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Len Nightingale to make any attempt to save it. Oscar Dümmler sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Padiham FC booed when Waterlooville was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniel Wood didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Padiham FC's Oscar Dümmler got a free kick in the 26th minute. Leo Brodmann sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Simon Drachmann was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 33 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Albert Hoskins in the 37th minute of play forced Padiham FC's goalkeeper Joel Braun to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 41st minute, Eddie Arendt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Fred Ahle's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Len Nightingale read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. After having played for 44 minutes, Oscar Dümmler managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Padiham FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Oscar Dümmler was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Albert Hoskins to make the kick off. Christof Probst struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Len Nightingale didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Padiham FC. After a rather tough play, Padiham FC's Dion Ozwald got a free kick in the 58th minute. Joel Braun took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Albert Hoskins, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Oscar Dümmler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 66th minute, Albert Hoskins fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Joel Braun, passed just outside the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eddie Arendt in the 74th minute of play forced Waterlooville's goalkeeper Len Nightingale to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Fred Ahle came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the Padiham FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fred Ahle couldn't finish the play. Christof Probst sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 79 minutes into the match, Waterlooville's goal looked a bit too open when Fred Ahle came free, but Len Nightingale reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Christof Probst had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eddie Arendt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Len Nightingale having to interfere. In the 89th minute Christof Probst shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Len Nightingale saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fred Ahle struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Len Nightingale didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Padiham FC. 92 minutes into the match, Waterlooville's goal looked a bit too open when Eddie Arendt came free, but Len Nightingale reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 93 played minutes Padiham FC got a freekick which was hit by Fred Ahle. There was no doubt that Padiham FC were the better team. Padiham FC's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
