Rupert Joy stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Silvester Auerswald's shot from short distance in the 6th minute. In the 8th minute Grant Mayall shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Philip Pröll saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 16 minutes, Silvester Auerswald made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Basingstoke's Rupert Joy tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Franck Schlim hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Basingstoke's Callum Duckworth couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 30th minute. When Felix Blake came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Basingstoke fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Felix Blake couldn't finish the play. The wind increased when Phil Perryman made the kick off in the second half. Rupert Joy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Silvester Auerswald, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jean-Claude von Ancken came free with the goalkeeper in the 57th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Rupert Joy could save by the left post. Brendon Law charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Brendon Law the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After having played for 60 minutes, Jean-Claude von Ancken managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. RedBoys Lëtzebuerg's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jean-Claude von Ancken was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to RedBoys Lëtzebuerg getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Jean-Claude von Ancken hit a great ball. Silvester Auerswald sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. With a little luck, Basingstoke's Rupert Joy got control of the ball when Jean-Claude von Ancken tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 65 played minutes Basingstoke got a freekick which was hit by Grant Mayall. A collision led to Basingstoke getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Felix Blake hit a great ball. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rupert Joy showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. When Ollie Winterburn fell near the penalty area in the 76th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Basingstoke's protests and gave Ollie Winterburn a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 75th minute of the game. One of Basingstoke:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of RedBoys Lëtzebuerg:s goal. Basingstoke:s Rupert Joy showed great skill when he stopped Gerry Krier:s penalty. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felix Blake in the 78th minute of play forced RedBoys Lëtzebuerg's goalkeeper Philip Pröll to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Phil Perryman hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. With his leg Rupert Joy managed to avoid a goal in the 82ndth minute, when RedBoys Lëtzebuerg's Jean-Claude von Ancken fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Silvester Auerswald fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rupert Joy having to interfere. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
