Spectators: 9256 (Terracing: 6943, Seating: 2129, VIP seats: 184) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Jacques Lavigne started the match with the kick off. A collision led to Basingstoke getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Ozzy Cheeseman hit a great ball. When Giles Klopp came up free with the goalie in the 4th minute, the Kidsgrove fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Giles Klopp couldn't finish the play. Marcus Jentzsch might have been able to make a better finish in the 5th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rupert Joy. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Marcus Jentzsch ran back to his position shaking his head. When Robin Schmitt came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Kidsgrove fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Robin Schmitt couldn't finish the play. Rupert Joy showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jacques Lavigne in the 9th minute of the match. Rupert Joy made an important save on a dangerous shot by Giles Klopp in the 11th minute. In the 12th minute the ball was on its way in behind Basingstoke's goalkeeper Rupert Joy, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Rupert Joy stood somewhat misplaced when Robin Schmitt came free in front of goal and shot 1-0 to the left of him in the 15 minute. Basingstoke's Rupert Joy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jacques Lavigne in the 24th minute of play. Marcus Jentzsch could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Rupert Joy made a huge save. Rupert Joy made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Giles Klopp sent off a good shot on target. Karl Trausch didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Phil Perryman went, in the 32nd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. If Stan Hößler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Phil Perryman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Karl Trausch having to interfere. In the 46th minute, Jacques Lavigne got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Robin Schmitt received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Rupert Joy came out and tried to block the shot, but Robin Schmitt slotted it home off the left post making it 4-1 in the 47th minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Phil Perryman to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Phil Perryman in the 54th minute of play forced Kidsgrove's goalkeeper Karl Trausch to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Giles Klopp kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. Robin Schmitt's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rupert Joy read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 57th minute of play. 59 minutes into the match, Marcus Jentzsch notched a goal, 5-1, to the right of Basingstoke's Rupert Joy. Rupert Joy was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Giles Klopp in the 62nd minute of play forced Basingstoke's goalkeeper Rupert Joy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rupert Joy stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Robin Schmitt's shot from short distance in the 63rd minute. 74 minutes into the match, Basingstoke's goal looked a bit too open when Robin Schmitt came free, but Rupert Joy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 80 minutes of play Basingstoke's Grant Mayall was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Grant Mayall kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. Giles Klopp's late challenge caught a Basingstoke's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Giles Klopp helped the player get up and apologised. Giles Klopp hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Rupert Joy showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcus Jentzsch in the 84th minute of the match. Perry Kaiser sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcus Jentzsch in the 88th minute of play forced Basingstoke's goalkeeper Rupert Joy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 90th minute Marcus Jentzsch shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rupert Joy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Robin Schmitt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 93 minutes of play, Kidsgrove's Robin Schmitt made it 6-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rupert Joy was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Marcus Jentzsch had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kidsgrove walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
