When Thomas Batliner came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Wootton Bassett City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Thomas Batliner couldn't finish the play. Antonio Zurflüh hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. Liechtenstein City's Florian Bürzle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antoni Thöny in the 22nd minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Igor Burali in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vincente Vazquez prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A collision led to Wootton Bassett City getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. After a defensive mix-up in Liechtenstein City's zone, Thomas Batliner stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Florian Bürzle came out of the goal and Thomas Batliner tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Florian Bürzle showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Thomas Batliner in the 47th minute of the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Victor Frick stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Thomas Batliner could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 92nd minute of the match, but Florian Bürzle made a huge save. Florian Bürzle made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Victor Frick in the 97th minute of play. Wootton Bassett City played a much better game than Liechtenstein City and deserved their victory. The Liechtenstein City players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
