An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredo Maggi in the 8th minute of play forced SAITTA's goalkeeper Corrado Cancemi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Emilio Mannucci fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Palernitana's protests and gave Emilio Mannucci a yellow card for diving instead. In the 10th minute, Emilio Mannucci hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Andrea Manzo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fabio Rava in the 13th minute. Andrea Manzo made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Fabio Rava sent off a good shot on target. Alfredo Maggi scored 0-1 in the 17th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Corrado Cancemi, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 20 minutes into the match, SAITTA's goal looked a bit too open when Fulvio Profeta came free, but Corrado Cancemi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fulvio Profeta hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Beppe Stefano's late challenge caught a SAITTA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Beppe Stefano helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Palernitana getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Beppe Stefano hit a great ball. If Fulvio Profeta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 36 minutes into the match, Palernitana's Alfredo Maggi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Corrado Cancemi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Emilio Mannucci managed to get in a good position for a shot. Palernitana's supporters rose to their feet, but Emilio Mannucci was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Corrado Cancemi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Corrado Cancemi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fulvio Profeta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, SAITTA's Angelo Prisco got a free kick in the 42nd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Alfredo Maggi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Palernitana's supporters rose to their feet, but Alfredo Maggi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Corrado Cancemi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

SAITTA's Corrado Cancemi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fulvio Profeta in the 52nd minute of play. 53 minutes into the game, Angelo Prisco was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SAITTA's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Palernitana the free kick. After a rather tough play, SAITTA's Angelo Prisco got a free kick in the 53rd minute. When Alfredo Maggi came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the Palernitana fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alfredo Maggi couldn't finish the play. Emilio Mannucci kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Fulvio Profeta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Corrado Cancemi having to interfere. Alfredo Maggi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Corrado Cancemi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Corrado Cancemi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fulvio Profeta in the 70th minute of the match. In the 76th match minute, Palernitana was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emilio Mannucci to maneuver through the defense. When Fulvio Profeta fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. Fabio Rava recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After recieving a nice pass, SAITTA's Ennio Di Virgilio tried to score from far away in the 85th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Alfredo Maggi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Corrado Cancemi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 93rdth minute of the game Fulvio Profeta who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SAITTA's Corrado Cancemi was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Fulvio Profeta's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Corrado Cancemi read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play. Fulvio Profeta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Corrado Cancemi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Palernitana played a much better game than SAITTA and deserved their victory. The SAITTA players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
