The supporters of Gazzolo booed when De Matthaéis was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emilio Chiarelli didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carlo Di Pasquale didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Carter Bisegna went, in the 31st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. When the final whistle sounded Gazzolo left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than De Matthaéis.
