The supporters of Borsano booed when Roncopascolo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bruno Brandini didn't get a good kick on the ball. Anselmo Causio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabiano Mandelli in the 29th minute of play. Alfonso Baresi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Concetto Antenucci, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. 33 minutes into the match, Borsano's Frank Tabacchi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Anselmo Causio narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fabiano Mandelli in the 42nd minute of play forced Roncopascolo's goalkeeper Anselmo Causio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eraldo Tomei struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Anselmo Causio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Borsano. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Donato Ceccarelli to make the kick off.
