The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Demetrio De Paolis didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ennio Chizzo went, in the 5th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Claudio Firmani made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ennio Paoletti in the 9th minute. Claudio Firmani showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Donato Di Natale, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. Pomodori's Demetrio De Paolis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ennio Chizzo in the 20th minute of play. San Pelaio's Claudio Firmani played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Donato Di Natale in the 24th minute of play. Pomodori's Demetrio De Paolis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Belardi in the 26th minute of play. Demetrio De Paolis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto Belardi, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Demetrio De Paolis came out of the goal in the 35th minute to try and stop a shot by San Pelaio's Alberto Belardi. But to his dismay, Alberto Belardi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. After some careless play in the Pomodori defense, Ennio Chizzo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Demetrio De Paolis. The Pomodori fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Demetrio De Paolis should have stopped the shot. Alberto Belardi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Donato Di Natale made a kick off. In the 55th minute, San Pelaio's Ennio Chizzo dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-4. In the 59th minute Ennio Chizzo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Demetrio De Paolis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Demetrio De Paolis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ennio Chizzo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Pomodori getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Frank Sorge hit a great ball. Alberto Belardi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ennio Chizzo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 67th match minute, Pomodori was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Amos Piattelli to maneuver through the defense. When the match had gone on for 71 minutes, Ennio Chizzo took a quick shot and it went in 0-5 without a chance for Demetrio De Paolis to make any attempt to save it. When Donato Di Natale came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Pomodori fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Donato Di Natale couldn't finish the play. Demetrio De Paolis came out of the goal in the 78th minute to try and stop a shot by San Pelaio's Alberto Belardi. But to his dismay, Alberto Belardi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-6. Alberto Belardi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Demetrio De Paolis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Pomodori booed when San Pelaio was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eraldo Toto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ennio Paoletti sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When the match was over San Pelaio could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Pomodori throughout the match.
