Statua FC's Ennio Nardone got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Domenico Coccolone had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Alessio Pala came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Salernitana fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alessio Pala couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Statua FC's zone, Beppe Rinaldi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cristoforo Di Pietrantonio came out of the goal and Beppe Rinaldi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Beppe Rinaldi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristoforo Di Pietrantonio having to interfere. The supporters of Salernitana booed when Statua FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Domenico Coccolone didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristoforo Di Pietrantonio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alessio Pala in the 37th minute of the match. Beppe Rinaldi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Salernitana's Alessio Pala got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Alessio Pala had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Domenico Coccolone to strike the kick off in the second half. When Salernitana's Beppe Rinaldi in 54 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Cristoforo Di Pietrantonio guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. In the 56th minute, Alessio Pala fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Cristoforo Di Pietrantonio, passed just outside the right post. 59 minutes into the match, Salernitana's Beppe Rinaldi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cristoforo Di Pietrantonio narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Beppe Rinaldi got free with Cristoforo Di Pietrantonio in the 61st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 63 minutes into the match, Statua FC's goal looked a bit too open when Elia Coco came free, but Cristoforo Di Pietrantonio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alessio Pala might have been able to make a better finish in the 65th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cristoforo Di Pietrantonio. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alessio Pala ran back to his position shaking his head. Statua FC's players were relieved. 69 minutes into the match, Alessio Pala dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Cristoforo Di Pietrantonio, 0-2. Cristoforo Di Pietrantonio made a fantastic save in the 74th minute, when Beppe Rinaldi sent off a good shot on target. Cristoforo Di Pietrantonio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alessio Pala, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cristoforo Di Pietrantonio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alessio Pala's shot from short distance in the 77th minute. Cristoforo Di Pietrantonio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alessio Pala, who was totally free with the ball in the 98th minute. When the final whistle sounded Salernitana left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Statua FC.
