The audience thought a goal was coming when Alberto Mei got free with Comunardo Salvucci in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 13 minutes, Fabio Luciani managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Villasanta's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fabio Luciani was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Fabio Luciani did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-0 to the left of a surprised Comunardo Salvucci 15 minutes into the match. Ernesto Minati received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Dino Maio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 23rd minute, Ernesto Minati got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Comunardo Salvucci made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alberto Mei in the 35th minute. A collision led to Villasanta getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Alfredo Sciarretta hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fabio Luciani in the 44th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Comunardo Salvucci saved Nova Milanese from getting behind. Comunardo Salvucci showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fabio Luciani in the 46th minute of the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Nova Milanese's Comunardo Salvucci played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfredo Sciarretta in the 54th minute of play. The supporters of Villasanta booed when Nova Milanese was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabiano Pezzi didn't get a good kick on the ball. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fabio Luciani couldn't finish the play.
