The audience thought a goal was coming when Domenico Pettinelli got free with Damiano Briano in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 40th minute Flavio Bearzot shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Damiano Briano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Domenico Pettinelli sent away a hard shot on goal in the 50th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bruno Melchiorre was the one to do the kick off. Frank Cieri recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Domenico Pettinelli came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Durazzanino fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Domenico Pettinelli couldn't finish the play. Aldo Capobianco kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. After having played for 74 minutes, Domenico Pettinelli managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Durazzanino's supporters crossed their fingers, but Domenico Pettinelli was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 76th minute, Aurelio Guarisi made a precise shot to the right of Damiano Briano. Citadinaza's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. The audience was convinced that Domenico Pettinelli's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Damiano Briano was relentless in the 81st minute of the game. The corner ended in Christian Penna almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Citadinaza's Damiano Briano did a great save.
