Carter Di Liddo came out of the goal in the 31st minute to try and stop a shot by Montecelio's Donato Lelli. But to his dismay, Donato Lelli quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. The supporters of Montecelio booed when AFC Meridiana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Christian Ferrini didn't get a good kick on the ball. Aldo Baresi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernardo Gambini in the 39th minute of play. Carter Di Liddo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Donato Lelli went, in the 40th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. A sloppy throw-in by Arturo Sciamanna in the 44th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Montecelio's Beppe Rigoni. The supporters of AFC Meridiana booed when Montecelio was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arrigo Grilli didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Montecelio's Aldo Baresi got control of the ball when Corrado Carta tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 48th minute, Flavio Montini hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Donato Lelli to make the kick off. Montecelio's Aldo Baresi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Corrado Carta in the 74th minute of play. Aldo Baresi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernardo Gambini in the 77th minute of play. Anthony Calabrese hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. Montecelio's Aldo Baresi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dario Pagliarini in the 80th minute of play. After some careless play in the Montecelio defense, Corrado Carta kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Aldo Baresi. The Montecelio fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Aldo Baresi should have stopped the shot. Aldo Baresi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Corrado Carta, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. Donato Lelli came free with the goalkeeper in the 89th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Carter Di Liddo could save by the left post. In the 90th minute Montecelio were awarded a corner. Donato Lelli went to the cornerflag to take it. A well-hit corner resulted in Beppe Rigoni heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Beppe Rigoni during the 90th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Montecelio's Beppe Rigoni got a free kick in the 91st minute. Flavio Montini got his second yellow card in the match during the 92nd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Aldo Baresi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Corrado Carta in the 96th minute of play. In the 98th minute Bernardo Gambini shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aldo Baresi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
