When Corrado Carta came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the AFC Meridiana fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Corrado Carta couldn't finish the play. In the 29th minute, one of Faenza:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Faenza. Christian Ferrini shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. If Bernardo Gambini had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carter Di Liddo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Achille De Lorenzi in the 35th minute of the match. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

After 51 played minutes, Faenza's Eugenio Cardillo shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Carter Di Liddo came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Faenza reached it. Achille De Lorenzi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Carter Di Liddo made a huge save. Carter Di Liddo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bernardo Gambini might have been able to make a better finish in the 89th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alessandro Lucantoni. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bernardo Gambini ran back to his position shaking his head. Ciccio Antognoni fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carter Di Liddo having to interfere. After some careless play in the AFC Meridiana defense, Achille De Lorenzi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Carter Di Liddo. The AFC Meridiana fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Carter Di Liddo should have stopped the shot. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
