After a defensive mix-up in Aranova's zone, Beppe Mascitti stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alfonso Tofani came out of the goal and Beppe Mascitti tried to chip the ball over his head. In the 46th minute, DIABLO's Mike Carafa ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Alfonso Tofani. Alfonso Tofani yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Davide Maranzano to make the kick off.
