Commenda FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ettore Malinconico was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ermanno Ruggeri breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Attilio Maio's late challenge caught a Commenda FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Attilio Maio helped the player get up and apologised. Attilio Maio hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. When Francesco Florio fell near the penalty area in the 36th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Commenda FC's protests and gave Francesco Florio a yellow card for diving instead. Francesco Florio kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. In the 45th minute Armin Riccitelli shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Corrado Michelini saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half Commenda FC were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Armin Riccitelli made a kick off. After having played for 54 minutes, Francesco Florio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Commenda FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Francesco Florio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Commenda FC booed when Cattolica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antonello Tucci didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Ettore Malinconico had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cattolica's Ermanno Ruggeri played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ettore Malinconico in the 66th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Cattolica's zone, Ettore Malinconico stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ermanno Ruggeri came out of the goal and Ettore Malinconico tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Attilio Maio hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. Ermanno Ruggeri took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ettore Malinconico, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Arrigo Colella fell near the penalty area in the 79th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cattolica's protests and gave Arrigo Colella a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Cattolica getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Ermanno Ruggeri came out of the goal and Amos Pazienza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ermanno Ruggeri took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ettore Malinconico, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ermanno Ruggeri showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Francesco Florio, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. When Ettore Malinconico came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Commenda FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ettore Malinconico couldn't finish the play. If Amos Pazienza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 93 played minutes Commenda FC got a freekick which was hit by Francesco Florio. Ermanno Ruggeri showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ettore Malinconico, who was totally free with the ball in the 99th minute.
