When Fabrizio Petito fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Montecavolo's protests and gave Fabrizio Petito a yellow card for diving instead. In the 20th minute Concetto Contestabile shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dave Faccio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Achille Villa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 22nd minute of the match, but Dave Faccio made a huge save. If Concetto Contestabile had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 24 played minutes Montecavolo got a freekick which was hit by Elia Gazza. A collision led to SS Coteto Livorno getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Achille Villa hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Achille Villa got free with Dave Faccio in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 41 minutes into the match, Achille Villa had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dave Faccio. Montecavolo's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Achille Villa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Dave Faccio made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Achille Villa sent off a good shot on target. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Concetto Contestabile made a kick off. Boris Konsel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabrizio Petito in the 53rd minute of play. Montecavolo's Fabrizio Petito got his second yellow card of the match in the 55th minute. The referee ordered Fabrizio Petito off the ground. Fabrizio Petito hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Concetto Contestabile took the ball and in the 62 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dave Faccio. Dave Faccio dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. A collision led to SS Coteto Livorno getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Cesare Borgatello hit a great ball. After 68 played minutes Montecavolo got a freekick which was hit by Alberigo Pari. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. SS Coteto Livorno fully deserved thier win.
