Spectators: 6684 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1684, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Fortunato Belfiore kicked off to start the match. The audience was convinced that Ciro Tiburtini's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Fedele Di Giacomo was relentless in the 9th minute of the game. After 20 played minutes Philadelphia Union got a freekick which was hit by Fortunato Belfiore. After a rather tough play, Philadelphia Union's Dario Aureli got a free kick in the 21st minute. After 23 minutes, Ciro Tiburtini made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Philadelphia Union's Fedele Di Giacomo tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Ciro Tiburtini struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Fedele Di Giacomo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Phoenix. Federico Amadei sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 30thth minute of the game Ciro Tiburtini who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Philadelphia Union's Fedele Di Giacomo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Fedele Di Giacomo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Federico Amadei in the 31st minute of the match. 32 minutes into the match, Ciro Tiburtini had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Fedele Di Giacomo. Philadelphia Union's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ciro Tiburtini was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. 36 minutes into the match, Damiano Talone notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Phoenix's Augusto Piccirilli. Augusto Piccirilli was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Eugenio Mattioli charged in rather forcefully in the 39th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Eugenio Mattioli the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ciro Tiburtini in the 43rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fedele Di Giacomo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Fedele Di Giacomo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ciro Tiburtini's shot from short distance in the 47th minute.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ciro Tiburtini to make the kick off. When Phoenix's Ciro Tiburtini in the 54th minute got a chance for a shot 54th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Ciro Tiburtini had several of the Philadelphia Union's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 69 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-3 score and a disappointed Fedele Di Giacomo as he didn't even see the shot coming. 73 minutes into the game, Jens-Åke Kollberg was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Phoenix's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Philadelphia Union the free kick. Jens-Åke Kollberg hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. Fedele Di Giacomo was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Ciro Tiburtini showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-4 in the 76 minute of play. Ciro Tiburtini made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 88thth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Fedele Di Giacomo would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. Fedele Di Giacomo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ciro Tiburtini in the 90th minute. Andrea Montaldi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Phoenix played a much better game than Philadelphia Union and deserved their victory. The Philadelphia Union players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
