Gorla Maggiore FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arrigo Corleone was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Arrigo Corleone had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 43rd match minute, Gorla Maggiore FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Attilio Diana to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Enzo Sorge's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nils-Åke Caspersson was relentless in the 45th minute of the game. After the first half Gorla Maggiore FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Enzo Sorge to strike the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 51st minute, Arrigo Corleone managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gorla Maggiore FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Arrigo Corleone was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eugenio Pietrantoni breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 62nd minute, Armin Di Palma got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gorla Maggiore FC's Arrigo Corleone got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Arrigo Corleone struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Eugenio Pietrantoni didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gorla Maggiore FC. The supporters of Gorla Maggiore FC booed when Gállico Marina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Enzo Sorge didn't get a good kick on the ball. Arrigo Corleone received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Eugenio Pietrantoni tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 70th minute, Attilio Diana fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. If Arrigo Corleone had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 85th minute, Arrigo Corleone fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. When Armin Di Palma came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Gorla Maggiore FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Armin Di Palma couldn't finish the play. Arrigo Corleone's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eugenio Pietrantoni read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. In the 95th minute, Antonello Pennetta got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gorla Maggiore FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
