The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Frank Catini fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Christian Trasatti having to interfere. Dave Ferrini received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Dino Giammaria tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dave Ferrini blasted a shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dino Giammaria having to make a save. In the 14th minute, Christian Bartolucci left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Molassana fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Frank Catini might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Christian Trasatti. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Frank Catini ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 21st minute, Christian Bartolucci got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Dino Giammaria stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dave Ferrini's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. Dino Giammaria took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Christian Bartolucci, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 26th minute Dave Ferrini shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dino Giammaria saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of IRAK booed when Molassana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Christian Bartolucci didn't get a good kick on the ball. 30 minutes into the match, Concetto Grandis notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of IRAK's Dino Giammaria. Dino Giammaria was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 32 played minutes Molassana got a freekick which was hit by Claudio Castagna. After 33 played minutes IRAK got a freekick which was hit by Alberto Tamburrini. Christian Bartolucci sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dave Ferrini fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dino Giammaria having to interfere. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 40th minute of the game. One of IRAK:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Molassana:s goal. In the 42nd minute there was a penalty for Molassana. Franco Alfonsi stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Dino Giammaria. 0-3. Molassana's Dave Ferrini got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After the first half Molassana were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Frank Catini was the one to do the kick off. 57 minutes into the match, Molassana's Dave Ferrini sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dino Giammaria narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Claudio Castagna in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dino Giammaria saved IRAK from getting behind. Dino Giammaria showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dave Ferrini in the 61st minute of the match. IRAK's players were relieved. 76 minutes into the match, Molassana's Dave Ferrini sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dino Giammaria narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Concetto Grandis came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Molassana fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Concetto Grandis couldn't finish the play. In the 79th minute, Christian Bartolucci fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Dino Giammaria, passed just outside the right post. IRAK's Dino Giammaria proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to save IRAK from getting a goal against them. Claudio Castagna received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Dino Giammaria tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Frank Catini kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. 91 minutes had been played when some careless play by IRAK's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Franco Alfonsi was slow to take the kick. During this time Molassana's players had a chance to rest. Molassana's Franco Alfonsi was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Dino Giammaria in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. When the final whistle sounded Molassana left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than IRAK.
