Sorbo FC's Ettore Proia got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ettore Proia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Franco Pan having to interfere. Catese FC's Franco Pan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save Catese FC from getting a goal against them. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Ettore Proia made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Catese FC booed when Sorbo FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniele Carta didn't get a good kick on the ball. Comunardo Iacovella might have been able to make a better finish in the 60th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Franco Pan. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Comunardo Iacovella ran back to his position shaking his head. Franco Pan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ettore Proia in the 62nd minute of play. Ettore Proia struck a weak shot in the 73rd minute. Franco Pan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sorbo FC. Bernardo Di Rado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Attilio Caponera fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dario Maiorano having to interfere. In the 85th minute, Catese FC's Bernardo Di Rado ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Dario Maiorano. Dario Maiorano yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-2. If Bernardo Di Rado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ettore Proia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bernardo Di Rado in the 94th minute of play forced Sorbo FC's goalkeeper Dario Maiorano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Comunardo Iacovella fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Franco Pan having to interfere. The Catese FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Catese FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
