Perugia FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sale FC the free kick. 25 minutes in the game, Armin Anelli fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Filippo Del Bello having to interfere. If Armin Anelli had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 31 minutes into the match, Sale FC's goalkeeper Filippo Del Bello had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Armin Anelli. Perugia FC's Armin Anelli got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

The wind increased when Carter Bernardini made the kick off in the second half. 57 minutes into the match, Sale FC's goal looked a bit too open when Armin Anelli came free, but Filippo Del Bello reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Beppe Manzi came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Perugia FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Beppe Manzi couldn't finish the play. Sale FC's Dino Casale shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 74th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Alvise Mattei but with some difficulty. Amos Angelini took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 78th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Alvise Mattei. Perugia FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Beppe Manzi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Filippo Del Bello read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 80th minute of play. Filippo Del Bello made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Damiano Silvestre in the 82nd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Armin Anelli managed to get in a good position for a shot. Perugia FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Armin Anelli was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Filippo Del Bello breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Beppe Manzi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Fortunato Di Persio got free with Alvise Mattei in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Sale FC succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Perugia FC had controlled the match.
