When Emilio Reggianini fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Livorno 1915's protests and gave Emilio Reggianini a yellow card for diving instead. Emilio Reggianini hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Alvise Scotti struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Claudio Bellucci didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Atalanta. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Claudio Bellucci showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Atalanta's Amedeo Bussi proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to save Atalanta from getting a goal against them. The audience was convinced that Federico Simeoni's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Amedeo Bussi was relentless in the 47th minute of the game. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Felice Magliocco took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 90th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Amedeo Bussi. Atalanta's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Federico Simeoni in the 94th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Amedeo Bussi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alberto Giusto got free with Claudio Bellucci in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the final whistle went the supporters of Atalanta were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Livorno 1915 side.
