After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Amedeo Scirea managed to get in a good position for a shot. Michelino's supporters rose to their feet, but Amedeo Scirea was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Camillo Flammini breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Fognano's Beppe Antonacci got a free kick in the 13th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Demetrio Ciapponi in the 15th minute of play forced Michelino's goalkeeper Bruno Pollastrini to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ciro Manzi came free with the goalkeeper in the 18th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Bruno Pollastrini could save by the left post. 19 minutes into the game, Anfilogino Gagliano was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Michelino's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fognano the free kick. After having played for 20 minutes, Demetrio Ciapponi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fognano's supporters crossed their fingers, but Demetrio Ciapponi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Anfilogino Gagliano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Camillo Flammini took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Franco Simeoni, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 26 minutes into the match, Michelino's goal looked a bit too open when Demetrio Ciapponi came free, but Bruno Pollastrini reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Michelino's Bruno Pollastrini got control of the ball when Ciro Manzi tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 29th minute of the match, Demetrio Ciapponi tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Bruno Pollastrini saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After a rather tough play, Michelino's Franco Simeoni got a free kick in the 29th minute. Bruno Pollastrini showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aldo Bassi, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. If Amedeo Scirea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Demetrio Ciapponi to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute Ciro Manzi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bruno Pollastrini saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Anfilogino Gagliano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Fognano fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. If Amedeo Scirea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 77th minute, Amedeo Scirea fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Camillo Flammini, passed just outside the right post. Michelino's Bruno Pollastrini played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Demetrio Ciapponi in the 79th minute of play. Anfilogino Gagliano took the ball and in the 81 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Camillo Flammini. Camillo Flammini dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Amedeo Scirea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Anfilogino Gagliano came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Michelino fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Anfilogino Gagliano couldn't finish the play. Anfilogino Gagliano recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Michelino were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Fognano to leave the ground with a draw.
