But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristiano Palomba couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Cristiano Palomba's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ciccio Caroselli was relentless in the 31st minute of the game. Romitorio's Ciccio Caroselli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristiano Palomba in the 35th minute of play. If Concetto Massa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Ciccio Caroselli made a fantastic save in the 45th minute, when Concetto Massa sent off a good shot on target. Amerigo Cinalli's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Augusto Grande read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cristiano Palomba stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Carmine Canzano charged in rather forcefully in the 62nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Carmine Canzano the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 62nd match minute, Romitorio was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carmine Canzano to maneuver through the defense. If Cristiano Palomba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ciccio Caroselli showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristiano Palomba, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Poiano fans cheered their team off the field, for while Romitorio had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
