The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 7 minutes into the game, one of Taleacotium:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 9th minute there was a penalty for CSKA Roma. Eugenio Pavia stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Ciro Lo Iacono. 0-1. Achille Pantano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Ciro Lo Iacono tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, CSKA Roma's Eugenio Pavia got a free kick in the 20th minute. CSKA Roma's Bruno Pietropaolo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 23rd minute of the match, managed to save CSKA Roma from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Taleacotium booed when CSKA Roma was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Domenico De Tommasi didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Carlo Belfiore in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bruno Pietropaolo saved CSKA Roma from getting behind. In the 31st minute Carlo Belfiore shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bruno Pietropaolo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Carlo Cappucci's late challenge caught a CSKA Roma's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Carlo Cappucci helped the player get up and apologised. Eugenio Pavia, 33 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. 38 minutes into the game, Carlo Belfiore recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Bruno Pietropaolo. Carlo Belfiore showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. Carlo Belfiore fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bruno Pietropaolo having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Achille Pantano was the one to do the kick off. Franco Lozzi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of CSKA Roma booed when Taleacotium was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Andrea Teti didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ciro Lo Iacono came out of the goal in the 55th minute to try and stop a shot by CSKA Roma's Franco Lozzi. But to his dismay, Franco Lozzi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. In the 60th minute Ciro Melfi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bruno Pietropaolo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Carlo Belfiore had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to CSKA Roma getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Emanuele Ritacco hit a great ball. Bruno Pietropaolo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ciro Melfi, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. Ciro Melfi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Bruno Pietropaolo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 81st minute, Ciro Melfi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, CSKA Roma's Emanuele Ritacco got a free kick in the 82nd minute. Carlo Belfiore sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. CSKA Roma's Bruno Pietropaolo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ciro Melfi in the 94th minute of play. In the 96th minute, Ciro Melfi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Although Taleacotium had been in control for most of the match, CSKA Roma still came away with the win.
