When Eidvilas Baliutis came up free with the goalie in the 18th minute, the Indomiti Guerrieri fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eidvilas Baliutis couldn't finish the play. CSKA Roma's Bruno Pietropaolo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to save CSKA Roma from getting a goal against them. Domenico De Tommasi hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Eidvilas Baliutis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Bruno Pietropaolo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With an all-out effort, CSKA Roma's Antonio Sansoni threw himself towards the right post 94 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Achille Pantano, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. CSKA Roma walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
